365 miles from home to Seaview. A tidy drive but well worth it. The property is brilliant. Lots of space, everything you need. Nice and warm. Three toilets which is great for seven adults. Amazing views from the front of the house. Otters on three days - right in front of the house. I was watching one from the bedroom window, still in my pyjamas!! Wildlife all around including Golden Eagles, seals, deer. Lots of nice walks. Small beach is a couple of miles walk but easy and very pleasant. Sandaig was a really good walk and a lovely beach at the end. Local pub in Glenelg was great. Very friendly and good food. Didn't think it was badly priced. Plenty to do in this area. The nine miles from the main road to Glenelg is mainly single track and can be tight at times. However nothing to worry about in good weather, might be different in snow. Enjoyed the drive. Skye is a great drive, as is Applecross which we have been to before but that road is just amazing. Was a little surprised to see a couple of transit vans with massive caravans starting to climb the road to Applecross as we came back. Not a good idea!! We all had a great time and would thoroughly recommend this property. Thanks David and family for sharing your house with us.

Perfect location for an extended family holiday. Had a lovely day trip over to Skye via the ferry, a great way to travel. Rarely used the car aprt from that day, fantastic walks in surrounding area, lots of time spent in sea swimming, skimming stones, and in garden admiring the view. House was great, well equipped and felt like home. Loads of space even with 10 people staying. Cant recommend this holiday highly enough.

My Response

While it is true that if you just wish to chill out and relax you can stay locally but many guests use Seaview as a base to explore the wider area.

Seaview is a great house. Glenelg is a lovely location. Together they make a great combination for a quiet week. The house was bigger and more spacious than I'd expected. It is very comfortable, with all mod cons and a very well equipped kitchen, and has stunning views across the bay. Highlights of our week included driving to the end of the dead-end road that runs past the house, enjoying spectacular scenery along the way and tea at the end in the smallest, most unusual cafe we'd every been in (in Corran); two trips up to the amazing brochs, one trip by car and the other using hired bikes (hired from just down the road), again enjoying tea and cake at a lovely eco-cafe; taking the local car ferry across to Skye (the ferry is the last manually operated turntable ferry in Scotland - and was a joy to see in operation); eating at the local pub (great food and beer) and enjoying the live music there on one evening; tea in the Glenelg cafe; a very long but stunning drive to the Applecross peninsula; and a very long drive around Skye (it's a big place!). The weather during our week was mixed but the house was a good place to sit and read and watch the rain sweep in, and although there was only the one road in and out (other than the ferry to Skye), it's a decent road with lovely views. Just one word of advice for visitors who intend to self-cater - stock up with food on the way in - nearest supermarkets Fort William and Kyle (with another on the road into Kyle) and then top up from the small local shop. (The shop was closed on Sunday.) Great week - thank you Maria and David for the use of your lovely house!

My Response

I would agree since most people drive either through Inverness or Fort William it is best to stock up on food supplies.

Goods: very nice property with a stunning view and very quite awesome area around. Bads: if you are visiting different place, then it roughly 10 miles from the main road to reach the property which takes about 30-40 mins due to roads. Also lots of bugs around in the area, looks very common every where there, so make sure you get a spray or cream for that.

My Response

It is 9 miles from the main road over Mam Rattagan, there are about 300 people live in the Glenelg area. The Highlands of Scotland are prone to the local midges, it depends on the temperature, if wet and how strong the wind is, but most people use an insect repellent if the midges are out. However they are only out at certain times.

Unbedingt empfehlenswert.

My Response

Traslated into English. Ok, more sun would have been desirable, but the house has everything you could wish for. We have never experienced a better equipped house - even with ten people, it was not always necessary to wash the dishes after every meal in order to have enough for the next meal and nothing is missing, that makes cooking in an unfamiliar kitchen sometimes cumbersome , The location is fantastic, and when the sun shines times, one can easily understand why people have chosen to get as far from settling down from the usual supply routes. Locally there is a small shop that has pretty much everything you need for everyday life; if you do not feel like cooking, there is the Glenelg Inn, where you can dine excellently unexpectedly. Absolutely recommendable

Seaview is in a fantastic position in Glenelg with great views of the Isle of Skye. The house is extremely comfortable and homely, very well equipped and has lots of space. All the living areas are well thought out and comfortably furnished making the house very user friendly after a day out exploring the beautiful countryside in and around Glenelg. Car visits to Skye are made fun using the Glenelg to Skye Ferry which is only a few minutes drive from the house. If you want a holiday of peace and quiet, beautiful views and a comfortable place to stay Seaview is the place to stay. The local pub, the Glenelg Inn is a very friendly pub with good food and wonderful Guinness and we 'Team Seaview' set the bar by coming 3rd in the Pub Quiz Night - again a very short walk from the house. I can honestly say that this is the most stunning place I've visited and I'm well travelled. The scenery is breathtaking and the house is perfect with fantastic views. I've just arrived home and I'm already looking at my next stay. It's simply perfect. Such a lovely community with friendly faces everywhere. The Glenelg Inn is just a short walk away with brilliant staff, they fully appreciate your business which is rare these days. The easy access to Skye via the ferry is good and the bike shed is 2 mins walk away if you want to hire a bike. The communication from David was brilliant and Anne, the cleaner, was very helpful when she popped in to say hello. The house itself was spotless and we even had a very rare pine martin visit us. Truly outstanding. This place will forever be in my heart. (Back to reality now).

My Response

Iain thank you for your kind words about Seaview and we are glad you enjoyed the views and the scenery. In this part of Scotland as you say the scenery is breath-taking and especially relaxing to watch the ships go by from the front windows. It sounds like you all had a super week and interacted with the locals, the Glenelg Inn is a very friendly place to socialise. Finally, we hope to welcome you back soon! Kind regards, David & Maria

The house was in an amazing location. Interesting little mountain road to get there to find a very spacious house right on the sea front with views over to Skye's snow topped mountains! Locals were very friendly, with good fun at the pub quiz. We will be visiting again!

"Unforgettable"

"I'll never forget the summer days we spent on the back patio, barbecuing and enjoying quality time with our family and friends. We'll be back!"

"Fantastic!"

What a treat it was to get away for a romantic weekend. I will definitely recommend Seaview Holiday Rental to my friends."

"Wonderfull House"
It is comfortable and very cosy. Nice Christmas tree. Great big Kitchen. Lovely Scenery. It’s a good house because we are right across from the beach. Nice views from the windows. Cosy beds. It’s a wonderful house to stay in for a holiday.

"Great House"

Kids loved it, adults too. We climbed Rob's last Munro Beinn Sgritheall then, Brian played fiddle for us and took us into the New Year after a haggis supper. Great time had by all.

"Brilliant Location"

Great House, brilliant location, fantastic weather. Fishing from the shore got us mackerel, sea trout and coalfish. Deep water fishing fantastic – double figure spur dogs and big thornback rays. Plockton is beautiful – The shore is good for lunch. Sheena’s tea hut was a surreal experience we would never want to repeat. Kids had fun swimming in the loch. Sea eagle over on last night.

"The perfect place"

I can't think of a more perfect place to spend a holiday. Not only are the rooms comfortable and clean, but there are so many things to do outdoors. Thank you!

"Great time"

Mountain Majesty. Lovely big house very comfortable. Isle of Skye lovely in sunlight. Train to Inverness a nice change from driving, Glenelg Inn a bit disappointing, sounded much better in ad. A must is a trip to Sheena’s tea hut, scenery fantastic on the way, even if you don’t fancy tea at the end. Highly recommend clootie dumpling & ginger cake. Yum! Quaintest tea house I have ever been in. Saw fantastic heard of deer on way back, great picture taking opportunity on this route to Corran.

"Chill out and relax"

Despite the driving displays of some nutter locals this is about as peaceful as you can get. Otter spotting, mountain scrambling, bicycle cycling, beach-a-combing: you get the picture – something for everyone to completely chill out and relax to. Some tips (1) The food in the Glenelg Inn looks distinctly iffy. (2) The view from the top of the mountain road over to Skye (take the ferry) is the best in the area. (3) If you’re going up Ben Sgritheall for the first time the path through the woods is marked by two tiny wee cairns by the road. Blink and you miss them.

"Well isn’t it gorgeous"

And what a welcome! This is our first time but hopefully won’t be our last – beautiful sunset tonight – A whole week to go – watch this space…..      Well sadly we’re having to rush home due to illness (at home that is) we have had a great time and intend to return hopefully under happier circumstances. Visited Sheena’s tea-room what a wonderful story teller she is. Attempted to walk to the islands – failed! Will try again next time. Apologies – we broke two glasses by accident – sorry. Thank you for the use of your wonderful home its been lovely. Thank Anne for being so friendly and helpful. What a beautiful, friendly, relaxing place – and a wonderful house too! Thanks.

"Great Week"

Comfortable and well equipped house. fantastic views. Would recommend car ferry to Skye, walks to Brochs. Trip to Corran well worth it. Sheena’s tea room – unique experience!!! Glenelg Inn – friendly, good Sunday lunch. Fish meals in restaurant very good too.

"We Will be back"

Very comfortable, well equipped house in a beautiful part of the world. The drive to Corran very pretty, saw seals playing in Corran bay. Tea at Sheena’s tea hut is the only welcoming party along with the pet stag! We thought we were seeing things! Birds of prey in abundance along Ratagan pass. Visit to Plockton a must and Callum’s seal trip only guarantees seals. However, did see seals outside our window this morning! View down to Loch Duich and 5 sisters one of best in the area (from Ratagan pass) All in all, weather was great, a lovely relaxing week in a beautiful place.
